Traverse The Trails: Swedish Motors' Picks For Summer Adventures

We are excited for the beautiful summer weather here at Swedish Motors, especially hitting the local trails in Minnesota. Volvo's provide one of the safest vehicles on the market, which makes us feel confident that you and your family will be safe on the long treks to state parks and nature areas throughout these summer months.

Here are a few of our favorite places to see and explore:

1. William O'Brien State Park

Only an hour away from the Twin Cities, William O'Brien State Park boasts a beautiful view of the St. Croix river. William O'Brien is perfect for kayaking, canoeing and even swimming as the river water is very clean. Reserve an island campsite you have to paddle out to set up camp or mountain bike on their trails.

2. The Boundary Waters

Drive up to the northernmost part of the state to experience the picturesque Minnesota Boundary Waters Canoe Area. This beautiful landscape is a part of the larger Superior National Forest, providing a true outdoor adventure.

Portage your canoe along traditional fur trade routes and camp along Lake Superior's water bed. The New York Times has even featured the Boundary Waters, stating they "transport you to a time when nature was not a thing
at the edge of civilization, but a world unto itself".

Truly one of the most serene places to visit up north. Read our recommendations of the best brands to outfit your Volvo for transporting canoes and kayaks.

3. Lilydale Regional Park & the Mississippi River Bottoms

Lilydale Regional Park is a part of the larger Mississippi Recreation Area that follows the Mississippi river throughout Minnesota and the country. It offers paved walking and bike paths, as well as un-paved trails. Hitch up your road bike for a fast cruise through the wilderness and take in the river views.

Fort Snelling Regional Park trail offers great fat bike and mountain bike trails, less than a minute away from Saint Paul on the east bank of the Mississippi. The trail is unpaved, but flat to allow all members of the family to bike and hike with ease.
